Purchased a set of these four tires January 2011 at a local shop in Texas. Mileage start = 63,632 Mileage end = 176,512. Yes that's right. 110,000 + miles on these tires!! Amazing!!! Granted, this is 85% highway miles, but still. I rotated these tires religiously every 5,000 miles. Would love to buy another set, but unfortunately the place I originally got them from does not carry them anymore. They are down to 4/32" and finally need replacing.
Ok, I'm not some guy hired by the tire company to shill their product. I work in a blue collar job and for once decided to spend the money on a decent set of tires. I did a lot of looking and got the Pirelli P4's. Expensive, but they're advertised as very long lasting. A couple of days ago my wife was driving up the Island Highway on Vancouver Island and at 120 kph hit a cinder block dropped from someone's truck. Huge bang, much drama, the tire went flat. After getting the spare put on and getting it back in town, I brought it into the shop and figured I'd need a new tire. The rim was bent beyond repair. The tire wasn't damaged! There was a little scrape and they remounted, tested it and it was good to go. Super impressed by this. Had the tire immediately blown out, it could have been really serious. These tires are heavy duty, and not cheap, but I will -never- buy cheap tires again. This was totally worth it. Nice ride, good cornering and when push comes to shove, tough. Spend the money if you can. It's worth it.
